Who can enter?

Entry is open to all serving members based in Cyprus, UKDs, Civil Servants and contractors. The event is closed to the public. If unsure of eligibility, please contact us with your circumstances for confirmation.  Any non-BFC based individuals have advice below.

Am I 'fit enough' to do the challenge?
It depends! It is designed to be a challenge, but more than achievable with correct preparation, training, time and commitment. This is NOT a race. Majority of the ride will be completed as a formed peloton. It is recommended that you are able to maintain 25kmph throughout the day. There will be controlled ‘Free Run’ sections, where riders can cycle at their own pace. These stages vary in distance, with motorcycle outriders providing support at the front and rear of the group.
If you are significantly behind the remainder of the group and of jeopardy of not making specific cut offs you may be placed into the 'broom wagon' in order to meet these timings. We have to ensure safety of the entire group including our support team.
How much is the event?
The event costs £130 which includes a bespoke CCC19 Cycle Jersey, finishers technical T-Shirt provided by www.RaceSkin.co.uk, Water Bottles, OTE Sports Nutrition Pack, Accommodation, lunches, breakfast on day 3, snacks and water during the event.
Furthermore this includes food and refreshments at Ay Nik upon your return, including live entertainment into the evening.
Do I need insurance?
All participants (military and civilian) will become members of the Ay Nik Cycle Club for the duration of the event. Membership provides third party liability insurance for cycling related incidents, but does not provide personal accident or theft / damage cover for bicycles. Therefore it is recommended that all personnel purchase adequate personal accident insurance for road cycling that includes theft / damage cover for the duration of the event.
What equipment do I need?

All riders need a fully serviceable road bike. It is recommended that all bikes are serviced prior to this event. You should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, in previous years we have had one end of the spectrum to the other, with torrential rain to 40+ degrees and glorious sunshine!
You should always carry your own spares and have numerous tubes to last through the 4days. Last minute spares will be available to purchase but we won't be providing enough for all riders.

A full kit list will be provided upon confirmation of allocation.

I am not based in Cyprus, can I take part?

BFC Acclimatisation Policy will be adhered to.  BFC based personnel take priority on a 'first come, first served' basis. Applications from individuals not based in Cyprus must contact the organising committee prior to entry.

Any participant not meeting the acclimatisation policy will not be allowed to take part in the event, the CoC will be informed and no refund will be issued.
CCC18 organisers unfortunately do not have capacity to assist in delivering any acclimatisation training or organising any such pre-package.

Registration and Briefing

All participants are required to attend registration and a compulsory briefing on Mon 6 May from 1600-1800hrs. This brief will cover all H&S aspects, do's, don'ts and is to minimise delay in starting on Tue 7 May.

You will also be issued luggage labels, cycle jersey, nutrition and be required to pay for the additional evening meals if you have requested on the entry form.
